Pinafores for my girls!

I finally had a chance to get to my latest project. Pinafores. I'm part of a wonderful sewing coop & our monthly project were these really cute reversible tops for girls. Considering I have 2, this was perfect! To add to the February theme of Valentine's, I happened upon 2 different fabrics w/ hearts on them. Since they are reversible, I decided to get matching prints but in different colors, for the back.

The first one is always the tester. I had some minor issues but it turned out pretty well. Gabi really took to it. Of course, she is always the one in brown so maybe that is why. She even cried when I took it off!

The heart print fabric side.

The solid pink w/ hearts reversible side.

I decided to go for a fancy top stitch, not too shabby!

And, as always, the 2nd one turned out way better. It lays better & is more my taste. Lucky Sofi! I can't wait to put it on her tomorrow. She is going to be so excited!

Here is her heart print side. Totally funky & retro fun!

And the same print as Gabi's but in blue.

I had to do the same top stitch. PRECIOUS!

Colds, colds, & more colds

I thought we were in the clear when nothing came of Ian's fever 3 weeks ago. Nothing happened after that 1 fever. 1 dose of Tylenol took care of it. Except for the runny nose. The damn runny nose. We chalked it up to teething b/c he is cutting 2 yr molars. The gunk is clear, has been for the whole time. Then came the really runny nose. I totally believe the 1st round was teething. This 2nd round is a cold. A nasty winter cold. Accompanied by a cough. Thankfully, not a big cough, not a bad cough. Just a bit of a cough.

2 days of just Ian. Then Sofi. She is our powerhouse. She just doesn't really get sick. If she does, it isn't too bad. She is following the trend. She is plowing right through it. The only problem, she doesn't like to sleep. I'd like to thank Heather for sending Mr. Nonaps to visit. We have THOROUGHLY enjoyed him. NOT.

And finally we have Gabi. My sweet Gabi. My big baby Gabi. She is a miserable sick child. Of the 3, she has had the worst runny nose & God forbid I try to clean it. She just ain't like the other 2. It's ok. Loads of cuddles for her.

Runny noses & little coughs haven't stopped us from taking advantage of the weather. We have been going out daily, for about an hour & a half at a time. They love it. The chalk is the best part. My artsy-fartsy picture taking. I'm going to print them & put them in a frame.

Sock-a-licious!!!

Hilarious. That's all there is to it. Sofi has a sock fetish. She does. I can't hide it any longer. Ok, maybe it is a foot fetish. She loves anything to do w/ her feet. Shoes. Socks. Toes. Yeah, my daughter.

On Abu & Meme's most recent visit, Sofi thought it would be cute to take her socks off & trade w/ Abu. Gross, maybe. Cute, ABSOLUTELY!

Then, it was time to trade again. Off went Sofi's socks that were on Abu & on to her feet.

It was fun, loads. Can't you tell? It entertained Sofi for at least 20 minutes which was absolutely necessary when I had been putting up w/ some major meltdown temper tantrums for 3 days. That is another story, when I feel up to typing it out. IF I ever feel up to typing it out. It was a breath of fresh air...socks. HA! Is that an oxymoron or what? A total contradiction. A breath of fresh air. I'm crackin' myself up!

Udder Covers ~ Giveaway!

For those of you that are nursing or planning on nursing, I have 2 beautiful nursing covers, Udder Covers for public or even in your own home. One is baby pink, the other baby blue. I bought them b/c they were running a great special & thought for sure I would have given them to a new mommy at some point but I haven't so rather than hoarding them, I am going to give 1 of the 2 away, your choice.

I don't normally do giveaways & was going to do this on SIGnature Creations but thought this is more appropriate. So, here goes the rules.

1. You must be a nursing mommy or a soon-to-be nursing mommy.
2. Please just leave me a comment about any nursing experience you have/will have & a way to contact you if you win.
3. Winner will be chosen at random on Feb. 25th (our close friend's b-day, eh-hem...Julie).

That's it. No need to butter me up. I just want someone to win it AND use it. My nursing days are long gone & will never be again. I'm unhoarding them. Which ever isn't chosen, come back soon b/c I will give the other one away as well.

Good luck!

Valentine's Laziness

The last 2 years wasn't all that great. You know, something about being pregnant & then having 11 month old triplets kills the mood, haha. This year was different. It started w/ roses & a big box from Victoria's Secret. I can't tell you the last time I got something from VS! Gooooooo Todd! I got Todd a cool retro Star Wars shirt cuz he's all in to that. Ok, so am I.

I even managed to lay down & nap w/ my honey. If you know anything about me, you know I'm not a napper. I don't nap. Can't do it, won't do it. That is what the night is for, sleeping. Call me a type a or a control freak, what ever your preference is. Daytime is for wake time. SOOOOO, for me to have laid down on the couch w/ Todd was very much a good surprise for him. Unfortunately, the kids didn't like the idea of mommy laying down & promptly decided that it would be time to NOT nap & scream instead.

So, we did what any other normal family would do. Cuddle puddle on the couch!

The kids also got Valentine's robes from Grandma Donna & Papap Bill. I've got to say that Sofi & Ian absolutely LOVE their robes. Gabi did too but she didn't insist on wearing it after she got her PJs on. Sofi & Ian DID. By the way, I finally did bath night ALONE. Todd was out running errands & I had to buckle down & get the kids washed. Not too bad. It was a quick bath though.

Here is the trio sitting on the couch downstairs watching Sid the Science Kid & drinking their milk before bedtime (we had to come downstairs b/c the DVD player broke upstairs).

After the kids went to bed, Todd grilled some yummy steak! What a wonderful day!

Did someone say a QUARTER OF A MILLION HITS?!?!

Yeah baby! That would be me! Or rather, us. HAHA! Surviving Triplets has OVER a quarter of a million hits. That's 250,000+ for those of you that like numbers. I'd say...WOW. Really? My life? That interesting? I appreciate it. Not sure what it is you like but keep coming back b/c if I can help just one other person, family, child...then it is all worth it.

We are NOT snoozing on the job, I swear. The kids have just really started enjoying "relaxing" & watching a bit of the boob-tube. Cute, even if I do say so myself.

To all of our followers, thank you. To all that browse the blog from time to time, thank you. To all those that have helped us along the way, thank you. Never be afraid of the unexpected b/c it will end up bringing you the most joy.

Leslie came to visit!

And we can't forget her precious son, Ryan. Les & I have been best friends since, well...I can't or maybe I don't want to remember b/c that tells me how old we are getting, haha. About 6 yrs ago, she moved to New Jersey. We miss her terribly & only get to see her about once or twice a year. Last time she came, Ryan was sick & we didn't see her at all.

This time around we made up for it. She came to be w/ me the day my mom had surgery & I gotta tell you that it was nice to have her shoulder to cry on, like good ol' times. The kids got along fabulously & Ryan honestly seemed right at home. He didn't even have problems taking his naps the 2 days they were here. Luckily, they came back for more visiting the next day.

Our measly attempt at getting a picture of the 6 of us. 4 kids under 2 & 2 adults. Not so much.

The girls had to give Les the reading test. You see, when ever anyone comes over, they bring a book & depending on how well the person reads the book is about how long they will stay in your lap. Gabi stayed put most of the afternoon but that doesn't surprise me, after all...it is Aunt Leslie!

I really wish she were here. I miss her company. I miss her presence in my life. Awe, I love you Les!

Congrats to the Saints!

I'm not a fan b/c I just don't watch football. I don't even consider myself a fan of our home team. It's ok though b/c I do respect what the Saints did last night. It was a fantastic game & for that, they deserve the title & the ring! NO has been through so much since Katrina. They deserve to have something to be proud of. Congrats to our neighbors to the East!

Thank you to all the wonderful responses about the pacis. I don't know exactly what that struck a nerve. I was just sitting there listening to the girls yesterday while they were sucking their pacis, more Sofi than Gabi, & I burst out into a huge smile. She sounds exactly like Maggie on The Simpsons. Gotta love me some Maggie & some Sofi.

Can you see the resemblance? I do.

Dear Anonymous,

You wrote to me:

"Now if you could get rid of those ugly pacifiers. Why do they use the baby ones,"

Mind you, I copied & pasted this so as you can see, your punctuation is wrong. Shouldn't that comma be a question mark? Jack ass. Make that a dumb jack ass.

I normally don't write a comment back to people like this but I think I want to make you feel like shit. You see, as a preemie, sucking is the most important movement of muscles that is required outside of the basics. If they can't suck, swallow, & breathe all at the same time, they can't take a bottle.

In the NICU, the Soothies were given to them, to practice sucking. To be able to eat. From a parental perspective, that sucking became music to my ears. To this day, it brings me just as much comfort as it does my girls. Hell, I don't even think they look funny w/ them.

Yes, they have them when ever they want. Yes, it is a security item for them. Yes, I know we will eventually have to take them away. Yes, it will be hard.

BUT, it is a battle we have chosen not to fight at the moment. There are much more important things on our plate such as keeping our kids illness free due to all the suffering our family endured when we almost lost our little boy last year.

To leave such an ignorant comment, without having the balls to even put your name just shows me & the rest of the world how much of a coward you are. You must not have children b/c I use to think pacifiers were ugly too, that was before I had my 3 beautiful babies.

And with that, I leave this blog open for the world to see & hope they don't pass judgment on you as you passed judgment on my children.

Sincerely,
Astrid & the pacifier sucking children (Sofia & Gabriella)

We miss our grandmothers!

Mamama is back in Argentina, Grandma Donna has been sick & well, we just plain miss all our grandmas! Ok, let's clarify. That is TWO grandmas & TWO GREAT GRANDMAS! Oma lives with my mom so when we see Meme, many times we get to see Oma. It's just not always enough, especially in the case of Oma & Mamama. Thinking about it makes me tear up.

We tried really hard to get a decent picture but if you know anything about 22 month olds, you know that getting them to cooperate is virtually impossible, especially at the end of the night when they are ready for bed. I did my best.

Here is Oma (86) & Mamama (91) holding Ian.

Attempt #1 at the grandma shot. HA!

Attempt # 20 gazillion. HA!

Family is so important. We love ALL our grandmas!
