Story Time!

I have been trying to figure out how to do story time b/c it never fails, when I get on the floor w/ a book, I am bombarded w/ 3 very excited babies. Needless to say, story reading is I.M.P.O.S.S.I.B.L.E. They all want to turn the pages for me & fight to do so. Then the crying starts b/c when 1 does it, the other wants to but can't. Story time has not been pleasureable...until Thursday!

Mommy figured it out! I think I am on a Wonder Woman streak this week. Must have had something to do w/ having to be alone for the week since my honey was out of town on business & I had to rely on my own devices. Or it could have been 1 of those 3 wishes finally coming true. Either way, what ever the reason, we can now have a SUCCESSFUL story time!

The idea came to me after they had finished lunch early on Thursday & we had some time to kill before going down for naps. I decided to get a book & read to them. This way, they were contained, I could flip the pages & no one would be unhappy. WOOT, WOOT! It worked. After reading 3 books, I gave each kiddo 1 to explore & discover. Sweet victory!

Group picture of the kids discovering their books (l-r ~ Gabi, Ian, Sofi).

Ian really getting in to his Peek-A-Boo book.

Hey! Jude has that book that Gabi is reading. He loves it. He always points at Jesus in the picture. Maybe it's that red robe Jesus is always wearing. =)
Let me tell you, I've taught groups of children from 1 yr old and up and storytime can be hard with lots of little ones. But rest assured, in just a few short weeks or months, they will have the self-control to sit around you on the floor as you read. Just do the page turning yourself and then give them the books to look at afterward like you did this time. I think the high chair storytime is a great idea though! Good job!

p.s.
I plan on getting with you soon so our kiddos can play! Jude and I have stuffy/runny noses right now though, so we'll wait until that's cleared up.

Lizzie loves her books! We struggle with fitting in time to do this as well - and just made it part of our evening routine. Daddy does it while mom gets dinner ready. Glad to hear you were able to make it work. Go Astrid!

I, too, have storytime right after they eat and are contained in their high chairs. It is one of my favorite parts of the day. I used to do it when they were all in their bouncies but now they don't sit in them too well.

These pics are so cute! Ryan loves books too. He loves for me to read to him and he also likes to just sit, turn the pages, and explore.
