Booming Business!

I told myself that I wouldn't post on this blog about my diaper cake & more business but I have to brag just a little b/c I really ADORE the last 3 diaper cakes I have just made as well as the Texas A&M cake. I am really wanting this to take off & have invested some $ in more ribbon & other decorations that I am DYING to use. I am also considering shipping the cakes, if I can do it so that they don't fall apart while in transit. For the most part, they are sturdy & hold together well but I know how they throw boxes around b/c I use to work for UPS.

I also would like some followers :) so if you like to follow me & see my new creations, please do!

Partying the night away!

My kids MUST be getting up in the middle of the night for a play party! They have woken up w/ dark circles under their eyes for the past 2 days. If you saw them, you would think I kept them up until midnight & woke them up at 4am to start the day! Is this normal? I have a feeling they are up chatting about dreams or something crazy like that. Maybe they are practicing all their new found skills? What ever the reason, they wake up tired.

I know I have also not mentioned this but they have started cutting back how much milk they drink. For the past month or so, they have been taking less & less. At first I got frustrated & was fighting them to finish the bottle but I gave up. What is the point? It puts everyone in a bad mood. Up until about 10 mths old, they were drinking about 28oz which was down from 32-34oz. Now, I am lucky to get them to drink 22-24oz. Sometimes they will finish all 26oz throughout the day but more often than not, they don't.

Ian has pretty much refused the bottle. I am lucky to get an oz in him when he does. I was only breastfeeding him 3/day but since he will not take the bottle before bedtime, I am forced to BF him again. No problem b/c I am somewhat engorged & he only nurses for about 15 min.

We are practicing w/ sippy cups. We have the Playtex kind & in order to help them out, I cut a 2nd slit into the plastic inserts. The nutritionist said no soft tips for the kids b/c it will delay speech development & since Ian is considered delayed in that area, we don't want to do any more damage. Sofi also likes the sippy w/ a straw made by Nuby.

How about some more pics of these adorable kids?

Gotta love this one! Sofi & Ian playing together. Ok, more like Sofi crawling all over Ian & him looking at me for help.

This is Gabi just crackin' up about something, God only knows!

Dropped a pumping session!

Ok, it is official. I am down to 3/day. I dropped the 2:30pm session on Saturday. It is so weird to not pump at that time. I take the kids downstairs to play & it is such a wonderful change of environment. The kids also have the whole living room to crawl around in which is MUCH bigger than their playroom. I can also fold laundry or sweep or work on diaper cakes since I can be in the same room & do those things.

The kids' adjusted well to daylight savings time. We didn't do it gradually this time around. Ok, let me tell the truth...I didn't KNOW about DST until Thursday so I couldn't gradually change their schedule. What we did is put them to bed 30 min early on Saturday & I woke them up at 6:45 (although it was really like 5:45 for them) on Sunday. By the end of the day, the babes were tired & all fell asleep on the evening walk. I don't blame them. Every time they finally settled in for a nap, I had to go in there & wake them up so we could stay on track. Thankfully we haven't had much of any crankiness!

Here is what the kids have been doing as of late...DOG PILE!!!!!

The girls are hamming it up in this picture. As soon as they see the camera, they are all smiles!

I couldn't resist taking this picture & sharing it. Gabi literally surrounded herself in every blankie in the playroom. She sat in this pile for a good 45 minutes!

No cable/internet/phone!

Wow...how dependant have we become on technology? Seriously!?! We have been w/o cable/internet/phone since Friday morning & I have gone through some serious withdrawals. Sorry I haven't blogged, it wasn't by choice. I promise to be back on tomorrow w/ a new blog. I just wanted everyone to know we are alive & well!

ECI Assessment & Birthday Pics!

Yesterday was Ian's assessment w/ ECI. It is bittersweet b/c he does indeed qualify. The reason I say this is b/c I don't think a parent really wants their child to be labeled "developmentally delayed" BUT at the same time, it is great he qualified for help. He was assessed to be developmentally in about the 6-9 month range & they were using his adjusted age at 10 mths so he really isn't all that behind except for in speech. I knew that was coming. He babbles & talks to his sisters but he isn't big on repeating sounds yet. He wasn't before he got sick either. Something that made me feel better is that his pediatrician said that boys tend to develop speech later than girls. That makes sense b/c my girls are talkers, especially Gabi!

ECI will be coming out once a month & that is to just verify that he is making adequate progress. If for some reason he falls further behind or needs more intervention sessions, they will provide him w/ it. The ladies were impressed that I had been keeping a log of his redevelopment milestones. I was able to accurately tell them how long he had been sitting, crawling, turning, etc. I'm glad Dr. Nguyen suggested it!

A nutritionist also came out which was rather interesting b/c I could run by her what I was doing w/ the kids. Thankfully she affirmed my actions! She said it was totally normal for Ian to be refusing formula as he is reaching 1 & will not particularly like the taste. She also said what I am feeding the trio is excellent & to keep it at around 100-120 calories per meal. I asked about snacks & she said b/c they are eating every 4 hrs, that we don't need to give any to them.

We got to weigh Ian again & measure him. I was concerned he hadn't gained weight in the past 10 days b/c of the lack of milk/formula but he managed to go from 19lb 2oz to 19lb 5oz. YAY! He is also already 29 1/4" long. WOOT!

One last thing about food, she said that since they are so close to their 1st b-day, we can start integrating whole milk in to their formula bottles. We will start tonight w/ 1/4 milk & 3/4 formula. Every few days we will add more milk & less formula.

Man, that was a book! I have got to get to the best part! We took pics in the backyard yesterday for their 1st b-day. I think considering I was the photographer, they turned out pretty decently. Rather than bore you w/ all 100 shots, I'm only going to post my faves.

Here is sweet Gabi.

WEEEEEEE, I like to walk!

I had to share this video of Sofi walking using her walker. She is so cute!

I can't believe that the kids will be turning ONE in a few weeks. Where did the time go? Time flies! I wish it would slow down sometimes b/c I want to enjoy every last second.

A mini update on Ian...he is actually able to unlock his knees now when he is standing. Seems like he had another burst in RE-development. I say RE b/c he has already done all this before. We can hold his hands & he can somewhat "walk" again. He is also rocking on all 4's & even trying to regular crawl. If Gabi & Sofi don't watch out, he is going to lead the pack again!

On the move again!

Ian is army crawling again! It has been 6 weeks to the day that he got sick w/ the flu & 5 weeks since he lost his motor skills. We are on the mend! Now, we aren't talking proficient, speedy crawling BUT as you can see in the video, it is forward movement, about 3 feet worth!

Todd & I were beside ourselves w/ joy. I didn't realize that I was anxiously waiting for this to happen. I think it is safe to say we were both a bit worried that he would fall far behind the girls but if you look at the fact that Gabi just started crawling about 2 wks ago, he is doing FINE! THANK YOU GOD!
