At least it was a mild illness...or something.
Wednesday night was the ONLY night w/ a fever. Not sure if the unseasonably warm weather that caused weeds to start growing & pollen to go through the roof or if he caught a little virus, what ever the reason, we survived yet another fever w/ Ian.
We are hoping that his body has finally learned how to fight viruses & such w/o freaking out. It is good to know we have made it through all this & are still in one piece. Albeit, sleep deprived & cranky but alive & well.
I promise a longer post, eventually. Until then, how about some more cute pics?

Grrrr...& the fever broke the straw on the camel's back.
Yeah, so besides having to deal w/ all the intense emotions of my mother's surgery & Mamama going back to Argentina, Ian has to go get a fever. Really? Seriously? Tonight is going to be a long night. Every 3 hrs w/ Tylenol/Advil rotation since he has a history of seizures.
I was hoping we would get through January. At least through January. Last January is when everything happened to Ian & call me silly but I've had enough w/ January & illnesses. I had my share in 2009 & now here we are dealing w/ a fever & unknown issue in 2010.
I'm trying to be a good sport. Really, I am. I know we will get through it & put another notch on our belt. So, rather than continuing the pity party, I am going to share some really cute pics! Oh, if you have a prayer or 2 to spare, it would be appreciated!
Pssst...these are all on my new camera. Love the new camera!

The good & the bad...
The good news, my mom's tumor is BENIGN!
The bad news, my grandmother went back to Argentina.
You know, not having grown up w/ her close to me has really made me appreciate just how great of a woman she is. Strong & most definitely the matriarch of our family. She has TWENTY great-grandchildren & 22 grandchildren, 1 has passed away leaving us at 21. There is 1 more on the way so she will actually have as many great-grandchildren as actual grandkids. Can you believe that?
While she was here, we all put in custom orders for knitted scarves & beanies. These are the kids in their newly acquired winter duds. hopefully they will last for a long time to come.

Mom's surgery update :)
She did fantastic! The surgery lasted only 3 hours instead of the expected 4 which is always a good thing. They were able to completely remove the tumor & based on the frozen pathology report, it is said to be benign. Can I get an AMEN?!? Of course, it isn't w/ 100% certainty but this has put everyone at ease for the moment. My mom didn't seem to have any problems recovering & honestly, the swelling is minimal. She also has complete movement in her face which means there was NO NERVE DAMAGE! The drs were amazing & we thank them very, very much.
Our family appreciates all the prayers. A very special thank you to my inlaws, Bill & Donna, for cooking an amazing meal for my father & 2 grandmothers. YAY!

Chillin' like Bob Dylan
On a cold, winter day, this is what my kids like to do. Don't let the closed eyes fool you. They did that for effect. I'm just excited that my kids are finally getting to the point where they can sit still for a little bit. This particular day, they stayed under the covers & watched tv for about 30 minutes. WOW!
Tomorrow I will post how my mom does through the surgery. It is being done to remove a rather large tumor from behind her ear. We don't know if it is malignant. Won't know for 3 days after the surgery as it has to go to pathology to get tested. There is a 20% it is. Let's hope that the 80% prevails. Please say a prayer for her.

Not avoiding...just not enough time.
I think the title says it all. I'm not avoiding the blog, I just am struggling w/ time. My mom is having surgery for a tumor located behind her ear on Wednesday. My grandmother is still here & then there is the normal day to day tasks as well as taking care of the kids. I just don't have enough time!
I promise, tomorrow. I will post more about all the above situations.

90 & still going strong!
Mamama...amazing. Really, I couldn't sum it up better. She is my dad's mom. She is the matriarch in every sense of the word, having outlived her husband, going on 18 years. EIGHTEEN YEARS. She will turn 91 in April & can fly down the stairs better than most people half her age. So much so that everyone that has seen her go up & down our stairs, sits in disbelief & ponders how a 90 year old woman can be so agile.
Her time w/ us is precious. Absolutely the most sought after time when she is here from Argentina. Yes, people. She flew from Argentina. By herself. Did I already say she is amazing? Cuz...she is. Dad drops her off for a full day of play. Tomorrow we get to spend the day again. She can pick up my kids w/ no problems. She can comfort them, pick their fork up off the ground & knit beautiful hats & scarves for us all. Those are in high demand around these here parts!
The kids love her but Ian has taken to her the most. He adores her, staying close to her the whole time.
This is just the beginning of photos w/ Mamama. I am going to get more tomorrow, I promise!

Best friends for life!
I know that we are on the brink of the "terrible twos" & sometimes I get a taste of what it is going to be like. BUT, right now, I am really enjoying the kids. Looking at the girls be so affectionate towards one another, I know they will be best friends for life.
Don't think Ian isn't included b/c he is. Sofi loves to give him kisses as well.
I am one lucky momma to have been given these precious children. Thank you God!

Sand & Water Table
For Christmas, the kids got a really cool sand & water table. It is the coolest thing I've ever seen & I believe we will have loads of fun w/ it as the weather gets warmer. I have to say, the cold didn't stop the kids from having fun. We have to get play sand to put in but used potting soil just to throw a little something in there.
I've been trying really hard to get the kids out in the backyard at least once a day for a good hour. Unfortunately, when it rains, our backyard becomes a pool & w/ the weather being so cold, the water sits for a good day before completely draining so our ventures outside have been spotty at best. Lets not even mention the freezing temps around these parts as another deterrent. At least I can still go jogging, all bundled up, of course.
PS ~ Just did a personal best of 5 miles in 50 minutes! How's about them apples?

New Camera FUN!
I got 1 Christmas present from Todd this year, my Nikon D3000. It is BAD ASS. So much so, I am intimidated by all it can do. The thing was that I wanted something I could grow in to. Well, this is going to be a challenge! Here are some photos I have taken along w/ a borrowed lens from Uncle Jeff (Nikkor 85mm/1.4D).
I love this one b/c of the colors. The kids like to be pushed around in their Cozy Coupe.
All 3 sitting together, eating snacks & looking out the window.
Sweet Miss Gabi.
Look at those pretty blue eyes!
I think I like these 3 enough to print & frame! Something about shoes, especially Converse. These are Gabi's feet.
I promise to share more tomorrow. This camera is LOADS of fun & I have yet to discover all its tricks. Anyone w/ advice, I welcome it!

Sibling Love
I've got to tell you all this much, seeing triplets interact is the most amazing thing in the world. They have, as of late, become increasingly affectionate towards one another. When one is sad, the other comforts them. Kisses are readily given at any time & the sharing of food, feeding each other food or anything else that has to do w/ helping the other is a beautiful sight to Mommy.
I have to tell this story. See, we have switch to big kid straw cups. No more soft straws or handles. They are the Take & Toss Straw Cups by The First Years. LOVE THEM! So much easier than the Nuby Straw cups we were using before.
Anyhow, the kids (as all kids do), play w/ them. It gets frustrating & we are trying to teach them if they play w/ their cup of milk, it gets taken away. So, that is exactly what I did to Gabi one day. ONLY TO FIND...Sofi sharing her cup of milk w/ Sissy. Jokes on me.
DAMN. There goes that plan. They got each others back. Hmft.
Here they are, sharing the big arm chair & reading. Don't mind all the paci's. I found them digging through something & they got a kick out of them. They would suck on them & then toss them over the baby gate. I guess they knew better.
For the record, they aren't always sweet to one another. Just today Sofi decided to bite Ian. It doesn't happen often, thank God, but it does when he has something she wants. And Ian, he likes to pull Gabi's hair out. No worries, Gabi gets back at him by sitting on him.
Gotta love siblings!

My favorite time of the day!
As much as I love being w/ my kids all day long, my favorite time of the day is bedtime. Especially when you see this when you put them down to go visit Dreamland!
How can you NOT fall in love w/ those smiling faces? They LOVE to go to bed!
Ok, so that isn't true all the time but they have recently discovered that bedtime means they can get covered up by a blanket & read a book. Often times, I go back up after about 30 minutes to see if they are still awake & find Ian has fallen asleep just like I tucked him in. Of the 3, I think he would be ready to go to a toddler bed BUT since there are 3 of them in 1 room, we are holding off on that idea for quite some time.
Then there is "me" time or couple time. Todd & I eat after the kids go to bed. Since they still have their dinner at 4, it just makes it more convenient & honestly, I cherish the time together. Since he wakes up so early, he often goes to sleep right after we eat. Our time together is precious.

Gabi's ABCs
Gabi loves to talk. I think she loves to sing even more. She knows all kinds of songs but the most impressive is the ABCs & Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Here she is singing her ABCs, unassisted for the most part. Pretty cool, huh?
Happy New Year! We all managed to ring it in w/ a very minor cold. Only 2 days of "runny" & I'll use that word lightly b/c their noses were really only wet from time to time or when they sneezed. Good to know the kids' immune system is working rather well!
